My Teaching Philosophy.........
I aim to provide my students with an environment that encourages them to become lifelong learners.
As a teacher I will strive to inspire students to achieve their full potential, academically and in all aspects of their lives.
I believe students learn best when they can construct their own knowledge through exploration and discussion. To do this I endeavour to relate the curriculum to issues, problems and topics in the real world, particularly in the world of the teenager. By using student exploration as an instructional method it allows students to be active contributors in the classroom and take responsibility for their own learning.
My aim is to provide a safe, effective and supportive learning environment for my students.
I believe students should be challenged and engaged in their learning and that the curriculum should be tailored to suit a variety of learning styles.
I am aware of the diversity of students and respect their individuality. I understand the necessity of employing teaching practices that will allow for engagement, empowerment and success.
I believe that optimism and encouragement are powerful. Students thrive in a positive atmosphere. It is crucial that each student is publicly recognised for his/her strength and contributions are given credibility within the classroom.
I wish to share with my students my enthusiasm for learning and encourage them to recognise that the benefits of becoming a powerful learner extends far beyond the classroom.
I believe a teacher is always a student. The classroom should be a fresh and exciting place that allows you to try and adapt new ideas. Through professional membership and relationships with experienced teachers, I strive to collect ideas and increase my content and pedagogical knowledge.
